DUSHANBE, May 25, Asia-Plus – Uzbekistan will join all documents adopted within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) by the end of 2006 as part of its accession to this regional economic organization, the EAEC Secretary General Grigory Rapota told journalists in Dushanbe on May 24 following his meeting with President Rahmonov.

should join 80 documents.  Although the process requires a lot of work to bring the national legislation into compliance with the EAEC treaties

is working actively in this directions, according to the EAEC secretary general.  “I reported to President Rahmonov on a work on merging the EAEC and the Central Asian Cooperation Organization (CACO) and as a whole there is no cause for concern in this direction,” Rapota said.   

According to him, the work on merging the EAEC and the CACO into one organization will be carried quite smoothly.  

He also noted that during the meeting with President Rahmonov they discussed a strategy of development of the EAEC, establishment of the Community’s Customs Union and the Community member nations’ joining the World Trade Organization.  “I also reported on resolutions passed at the meeting of the EAEC heads of government in

On the possibility of introduction of the single currency within the EAEC area, Grigory Rapota noted that it would a final stage after the establishment of the Customs Union.  

According to him, during the talks they also discussed issues related to investment projects.  “We should intensify the work in this direction and not only in the energy sector,” said Rapota, “I think it is also possible to use new opportunities of the Eurasian Development Bank, which is dedicated to promote the implementation of the investment project in the Community member nations.  The bank will begin its work in near future.” 

Rahmonov and Rapota also discussed the agenda of the upcoming EAEC summit that will be held in the
