have been left without university’s newspaper “Anvori Donish”.

Monitoring service at the National Association of the Independent Media of Tajikistan (Nansmit) referring to the “Anvori Donish” editor Aslon Islomov reports the newspaper is distributed strictly by subscription and the newspaper’s editorial staff does not have the right and opportunities to publish copies in excess of its circulation set at a thousand and a half.  “Money for subscription is collected by deans of faculties,” Mr. Aslon Islomov said.  According to him, Dean of the Faculty of History and Law, Saidakhtam Yunusov, has collected 526 Somonis from his students allegedly for “Anvori Donish” but actually he has drawn up subscription to the government-run newspapers for teachers.  

“When the editor raised this issues at a meeting of the University’s Academic Council Mr. Yunusov threatened to file the suit against him for libel,” the source said.  For lack of money, the newspaper had to print its 7

edition at the Kulob printing-house.
