DUSHANBE, June 30, Asia-Plus — Closed joint-stock company (CJSC) “TT-Mobile”, Tajik cellular operator, has been admitted to Russia’s 3G Association (Third Generation Telecommunication Networks Operators Association).

According to information from the “TT-Mobile” headquarters in Dushanbe, the company was admitted to the Association following an application lodged by the company on June 12.  

The source says that now, when “TT-Mobile” has technical and financial potentials, it has the right to participate in creation and development of the 3G telecommunication network as well as participate in the activity of working groups set up for drafting technical projects and resolving other tasks on the 3G mobile communication networks technologies. 

The “TT-Mobile” cellular operator has been functioning in Tajikistan since 2001.  Open joint-stock company (OJSC) “Tajiktelecom”, Tajikistan’s state-owned national telecommunications operator, owns 25 percent of the shares and the Russian cellular operator “Megaphone” assumes the 75% ownership interest in the closed joint-stock company TT-Mobile.

Russia’s 3G Association was established in December 1999.  It groups “Megaphone”, “Beeline”, “Delta Telecom”, “B Impulse”, “Mobile TeleSystems” (MTS), “Moscow Cellular Communication”.  During the last six years the 3G Association has been preparing for the implementation of third generation mobile communication networks technologies in Russia.  The 3G Association’s activities concentrates on market developments of new info-communication services.
