, July 10, Asia-Plus – Tajik border troops have seized a large amount of heroin in the area patrolled by Frontier Post # 7 of the Panj Border Unit in Khatlon. 

According to information from the Tajik border service, their troops on a routine patrol spotted and tried to detain three Afghan drug traffickers, when they were illegally crossing the border river in the Panj district on the night of July 8-9.  The trespassers opened fire at the border guards.  When the border troops replied to their fire, the trespassers managed to flee.  No injured among the border troops was reported, according to the source.        

A sack containing eleven kilograms of heroin, on pistol and one sub-machine-gun “Kalashnikov” were found on the spot.  The investigation is under way.
