, August 7, Asia-Plus – The Dushanbe Regional Society for Blind People is printing textbooks for schools for blind and partly-sighted children.  In such schools, the children receive primary education based on the Braille system.

The name Louis Braille is known by millions blind people worldwide.  The system, created by him, is universal, most simple and most convenient and consequently till now unsurpassed relief – dot system of the letter for blind.  They are books notes, mathematical and other denotations granting to blind possibility to take possession by all values of spiritual culture mankind.

The head of the Dushanbe Society for Blind People Kholmahmad Tengniyev, has told Asia-Plus that they have so far printed 324 textbooks on native language for third-form pupils at Tajik-language schools.  According to him, the first 40 textbooks were handed over to the

school for blind and partly-sighted children on August 4.  “We plan to have printed some 500 textbooks on mathematics and native language for third- and fourth-form pupils by September 10,” said Mr. Tengniyev, “Of them, 180 textbooks will be sent to the Sughd province.”

classes in coming two years,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said, noting that that the textbooks are printed under the project supported by the Japanese Embassy in Dushanbe.  “Under this project endorsed in March this year, US$80,000 has been provided for printing the textbooks and repairing the roof of our office,” Kholmahmad Tengniyev said.  “The printing-house was experiencing shortage of paper, cardboard, and tin-plate for printing the textbooks, but all necessary materials have been delivered from

,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.  

“Besides, the Dushanbe Society for Blind People is also printing talking books,” said Kholmahmad Tengniyev, “So far, the taking-book studio, which was provided by to the Society by the National Social Investment Fund (NSIFT) last year, has so far recorded 12 albums of tales and proverbs.”  According to him, some 50 cassettes have been prepared; of them, 30 cassettes will be distributed among schools for blind and partly-sighted children across the country.
