DUSHANBE, September 15, Asia-Plus — State and prospects of further expansion of Tajik-Iranian relations figured prominently in discussions of President Emomali Rahmonov with visiting Iran’s Vise-President Ali Saidlura in Dushanbe yesterday evening, presidential press service reported.   

According to the source, in the course of the talks Rahmonov noted that cooperation with Iran was one of priorities and main directions of Tajikistan’s foreign policy.  The sides expressed satisfaction with the present state of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, pointing the necessity of expanding cooperation in the fields of science, education, healthcare, interaction in protection of border and fight against drug trafficking and other threats.  

The two also discussed a progress of the implementation of a number of Iran-sponsored economic projects in Tajikistan.
