DUSHANBE, October 23, Asia-Plus – If people want to make charities and donations on the eve of the holiday of Id al-Fitr, they should make it in accordance with canons of Islam, President Emomali Rahmonov remarked at a ceremony of groundbreaking for the Shar-Shar tunnel in Danghara on October 20.

This year, the Night of Omnipotence, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan in Tajikistan falls on October 23-24.

Appealing to clerics and veterans, the head of state noted that the best manifestation of charity will be support for vulnerable people, elderly people who do not have relatives to support and orphan children.  Such people are quite a lot in every settlement of the country.  “Pay attention to those who live next door to you; see what they need and help them,” said Rahmonov, “Make donation to really vulnerable people.”  He noted that the holiday of Id al-Fitr – a holy Muslim holiday of spiritual cleansing and bodily harmony.  Id al-Fitr has higher spiritual and moral potential, which is common to all people, with an internal requirement lying in the depth of it for human spirit to be cleansed.  The president said Id al-Fitr marks the end of the great 30-day Muslim fasting, which has been promoting the strengthening of such qualities in people as restraint, wisdom, tolerance, compassion and mercy for many centuries.
