Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, finishing third in the men’s –84 kg taekwondo competition, according to the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism. 

The committee source said that in 1/8 final, he had no problem against Phub Thinley from Bhutan, wining the match 6 points to -1 point.  In the quarterfinal, Shokirjon defeated Palestinian athlete Mohammed Kahla, winning the match 4 points against -1 point.  On December 9, in the semifinal, our athlete met with Park Kyeong Hoon of Korea, overwhelming favorite for gold, and lost that bout 0-6.   

Thus, Tajikistan has to date won one golden and two bronze medals in the 15

th

Asian Games in Qatar.   Besides, Tajik boxer Sherali Mahmadaliyev already won the bronze medal, defeating Kazakh athlete in semifinal, and tomorrow he will meet in final with Iranian boxer to compete for gold.
