DUSHANBE, March 27, Asia-Plus — Tajik parliament (Majlisi Oli) has been accepted to the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member states (PUOICM).  

According to the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), its speaker Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev received a letter on this subject on March 27. 

Tajikistan joined the Organization of the Islamic Conference in 1992. 

Established in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, on September 25 1969, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is an inter-governmental organization grouping fifty-seven States.  These States decided to pool their resources together, combine their efforts and speak with one voice to safeguard the interest and ensure the progress and well-being of their peoples and those of other Muslims in the world over. 

            The Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states was established in Iran in 1999 and its head office is situated in Tehran.
