DUSHANBE, July 5, Asia-Plus — Issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar were discussed today at a meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with Qatar’s Finance Minister Yusuf Hussein Kamal in Dushanbe.

For limitedness in time, Yusuf Hussein Kamal could not give a briefing after a meeting with Emomali Rahmon.

According to some sources presidential press service, part of Qatar’s delegation today left for the area of construction of hydropower plants on the Vakhsh River and other part of the delegation left for the Sughd province in northern Tajikistan.

During his stay in Tajikistan, Qatar’s finance minister is also scheduled to hold talks with Tajikistan’s Energy and Industries Minister Sherali Gulov and Economic Development and Trade Minister Ghulomjon Boboyev.

Yusuf Hussein Kamal will give a news conference in Dushanbe tomorrow.

Qatar’s finance minister, heading high-ranking delegation, arrived in Tajikistan Wednesday evening for a two-working visit.

We will recall that Tajikistan is seeking closer cooperation with Qatar in the field of hydropower, mining and tourism.  In May, President Rahmon visited Doha at the head of a large delegation of entrepreneurs.  Speaking at a meeting of Qatari businessmen and their Tajik counterparts hosted by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 7, Emomali Rahmon said that Tajikistan offers great potential for investments, particularly in small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants, dams and water reservoirs projects.
