DUSHANBE, August 28, Asia-Plus — Turkish companies dealing with cotton processing seek cooperation with Tajikistan in processing Tajik cotton, according to press service of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).

The CCI press service said that Akhmet Ataker, Adviser to the Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe for Trade Matters, remarked this at a meeting with the CCI head Sharif Said on August 27.    

During the meeting, it was noted that cotton produced in Tajikistan is of high quality and many Turkish companies dealing with cotton processing are interested in cooperation with Tajikistan.  

The diplomat said that the Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe is ready to provide assistance with seeking mutually beneficial business ties both in this sector and other economic branches.  

Turkey is one of main trading partners to Tajik imports.  Over the first six months of this year, Tajik imports from Turkey have been estimated at $219,998,444Tajikistan and Tajik exports to Turkey worth $27,294,878.  

Only nearly 13 percent of the cotton Tajikistan produces is processed into manufactured goods in Tajikistan, while the remainder is exported for manufacturing outside the country. 

Tajik imports from Turkey have included alumina, transformers, electrical appliances, textiles, food products and so forth.
