DUSHNBE, September 13, Asia-Plus — Rescuers from Tajikistan and the United States are conducting a joint exercise in Tajikistan.

According to the US Embassy in Dushanbe, the main objective of the exercise, which is being conducted in the Varzob district, is to exchange experience and information on the issues of techniques of rescuing people in difficult mountainous conditions.

The US side is represented in the exercise by rescue paratroopers of the 920th rescue wing of the US Air force (the State of Alaska).

Tajik rescuers have demonstrated their skills to search and rescue victims in the mountain area.

The exercise was launched on September 12 and will last through September 14.

This event is the first of a series of data exchanges, which are conducted by the Tajik Committee for Emergency Situations (CES).  It is to be noted that earlier, training with participation of Tajik rescuers was held in Alaska

Now, both sides have planned to conduct a number of other such data exchanges.  The US rescuers will stay in Tajikistan till September 16.
