CIS executive secretary believes in success of upcoming CIS summit

DUSHANBE, October 3, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon today morning received visiting CIS Executive Secretary Vladimir Rushailo.  

Speaking to journalists after a meeting with President Rahmon, the executive secretary said that they had discussed issues related to the upcoming events, including the agenda of the CIS summit that will be held in Dushanbe on October 5.  

“Besides, we considered the agenda of a session of the council of the CIS foreign ministers that will be held on threshold of all summit meeting, on October 4,” Rushailo said.  

According to him, 19 issues have been tabled to the agenda of the CIS summit.  “The most important of them are issues having strategic character, including the concept of further development and improvement of the CIS,” the executive secretary said, noting that a plan of implementation of he concept has already been elaborated.  

He also noted that migration policy is also one of the most important issues to be discussed at the Dushanbe summit.  “An informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg charged the CIS Executive Committee  to go into issues of migration policy.  The working group set up  by the CIS Executive Committee has prepared two documents that will be submitted for consideration to the summit on Friday,” Rushailo said.

 Besides, the summit aims to consider a number of issues related to stability and security, fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. 

“The heads of state will also discuss issues, which do not require signing of documents,” said the executive secretary, “I believe in success of the summit and future of the Commonwealth.”
