DUSHANBE, October 17, Asia-Plus — Interregional Union of Tajiks of Russia is expected to convene its constituent congress in Moscow on November 5, 2007, Asia-Plus has learned from Muhammad Egamzod, press secretary, Tajik embassy in Moscow.  

A decision on holding the congress was made at a meeting of heads of large regional Tajik public associations working in Moscow, Moscow region St. Petersburg, as well as Tver, Ryazan, Yaroslav and Leningrad regions that was held in Moscow recently.   

Members of a working group reported on a progress of work to make preparations for the congress and the Union’s charter, the press secretary said.  

According to him, the congress is aimed at uniting Tajik public associations working in the Russian Federation.   

The Interregional Union of Tajiks of Russia will promote more active participation of Tajik Diasporas in public life of Russia and represent interest of ethnic Tajiks, living in the Russian Federation, in organs of state power and local government, Egamzod said
