DUSHANBE, November 8, Asia-Plus — Another domestic gas explosion occurred in Tajikistan on November 8, leaving four dead.

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), this domestic gas explosion occurred at a private lumber mill in Sughd’s Spitamen district Thursday afternoon, at around 2:00 p.m.  “As a result of explosion, two workers of the lumber mill as well as one woman and one child, who were at the lumber mill that time, were killed,” the source at a MoI said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the domestic gas explosion in Spitamen has resulted from carelessness in handling gas stove, the source said.

As it had been reported earlier, two persons were killed and at least five others were injured in a domestic gas explosion in the Zarafshon area of Dushanbe Thursday morning.  The domestic gas explosion occurred at around 6:00 a.m. in a nine-story residential building.  Two persons were killed and five others were injured.  The injured with burns of different degree were taken to the Dushanbe burn-treatment facility.

The first two floors were seriously damaged by the explosion.  The emergency authorities have attributed the explosion to the domestic gas leakage.
