DUSHANBE, December 14, Asia-Plus  — Kazakhstan’s joint-stock company Kazkomerzbank, one of Kazakhstan’s largest commercial banks, has registered its Tajik affiliate with Tajik Ministry of Justice (MoJ).

The source at a MoJ said that Kazkomerzbank’s affiliate in Tajikistan, Kazkomerzbank – Tajikistan, was registered with the ministry on November 30, 2007.  

In the meantime, Larisa Kokovinetz, the head of the public relations department of the head office of Kazkomerzbank in Almaty, Kazakhstan told Asia-Plus that the bank received permit from Kazakhstan’s Financial Market Regulatory Agency for opening its affiliate in Tajikistan last September already.  

According to her, the authorized capital stock of Kazakomerzbank’s affiliate in Tajikistan is 34.392 million somonis (equivalent to some $10 million).    

“All documents necessary for getting permit and banking license have been sent to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT),” Ms. Kokovinetz said.  

Kazkomerzbank was established in 1990 with headquarters in Almaty.  In 2005, the bank’s profit was US$154.7 million.  The bank has 22 branches and 69 offices in Kazakhstan.  The bank also has affiliates in Kyrgyzstan (Kazkomerzbank: Kyrgyzstan), Russia (Moskomerzbank), and Tajikistan (Kazkomerzbank — Tajikistan).
