DUSHANBE, December 29, Asia-Plus  — On occasion of the New Year holiday administration of Khatlon’s Panj district has provided assistance to district’s youth studying at higher educational institutions in Dushanbe and Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province, by presidential quota. 

Ms. Khairnisso Kenjayeva, the deputy head of the Panj district, told Asia-Plus that 63 students had been given 80 somonis worth of gift each.    

“This year, 15 school leavers from Panj have entered Tajik higher educational institutions by presidential quota,” the deputy head said, adding that in all, 203 Panj leavers have entered Tajik higher educational institutions this year.  “Three other leavers have entered higher educational institutions in foreign countries.”  

            She further added that with financial support of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development a new two-storey school to accommodate 1,176 pupils had been built in Panj’s Tugul jamoat. 

“Besides, due to a grant of $80,000 provided by the Government of Japan rehabilitation of a school in the Kuldimon jamoat will start in January,” said Ms. Kenjayeva, “With support of the National Social Investment Fund of Tajikistan (NSIFT) two other schools be renovated in the district, and the Catalytic Fund provides money for construction of another one school.” 

            Nouriddin Saidov, an official with the Ministry of Education (MoE) said that 2,774 girls now study at Tajik higher educational institutions by presidential quota.  Since 1997, 5,448 girls have entered Tajik higher educational institutions by presidential quota.
