DUSHANBE, February 4, Asia-Plus – Iran”s new ambassador to Tajikistan Ali- Asghar Sherdoust said expansion of cooperation with Tajikistan in the cultural, economic, social and political fields is among strategic and top priorities of Iran”s foreign policy.

Sherdoust told IRNA that using all capacities of the two countries, which share a common language, religion and race, is the most important plan of his ambassadorial mission in Tajikistan.

He said Iran and Tajikistan have much potential for expansion of the two-way ties in all fields.

He added that Iran-Tajikistan joint economic, social and cultural cooperation commission will soon resume work.

The diplomat said among other priorities of his ambassadorial mission is bolstering ties between Iran and Tajikistan, and accelerating implementation of the economic and development projects.

Upon arrival in Tajikistan, Sherdoust was welcomed by representatives of Tajik foreign ministry, science academy, union of writers and radio and TV.

Caretaker of Iran”s Embassy in Tajikistan Ahmad Ajalluian, Iranian diplomats and officials of Iranian institutions in Dushanbe and Iranian families were also present at the airport.
