DUSHANBE, February 7, Asia-Plus  — Give known Tajik judo player will take part in the first round of the 2008 Super World Cup that will be held in Paris on February 11-12, Alimahmad Mirzoyev, the deputy head of the Committee for Youth’s Affairs, Sports and Tourism in charge of sports, said.     

According to him, Aminjon Khonov, Rasoul Boqiyev, Nematullo Aslonqulov, Sherali Bozorov and Parviz Sobirov will represent Tajikistan in the tournament.   

“This international tournament is a preparatory stage for the 2008 Olympic Games that will be held in Beijing,” Mirzoyev said, noting that the second and the third rounds of the Judo Super World Cup will be held in Austria and Germany. 

Of Tajik judo players, only Rasoul Boqiyev has to date qualified for the Beijing Olympic Games.   


The Asian Olympic Judo Qualifying Tournament will be conducted in South Korea in April and judo players from Asian countries will chase Olympic qualifying spots.
