Dushanbe, February 18, Asia-Plus – Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan jointly with National Security Committee of Kazakhstan and National Security Service of Uzbekistan from May 2007 to February 2008 have carried joint interdepartmental operation named “Tayfun” were was seized over 100 kg of heroine.
According to DCA main aim of joint operation were to reveal and stop criminal activity of transnational drug-groups. “During the operation activities of some drug industries, that had put in order transfer of afghan narcotics to
Kazakhstan
and
Russia
.
From May, 2007 to February, 2008 over 100 kg of heroine were seized in
Kazakhstan
and
Russian Federation
” – said DCA officials.
According to DCA during the operation in
Kazakhstan
were seized 33 kg of heroine and arrested 12 people.
On completion phase of “Tayfun” operation were arrested group of suspects of citizens from
Uzbekistan
, and Tajik national Makhmudjonov B.S., ex-resident of Khujand, who lived from 2005 in
Uzbekistan
. 10 kg of heroines seized from suspects.
DCA officials noted that the main task of the Agency is implementation of cooperation with law machineries, and specialized agencies of other states to reveal and stop the drug trafficking and elimination of drug-trafficking groups with interregional and intergovernmental relations. From 2007 DCA in cooperation with law machineries of
Afghanistan
,
Russia
,
Kazakhstan
,
Kyrgyzstan
and
China
were seized over 1358 kg of narcotics, weapon, ammunition and also destroyed 8 heroine laboratories and 54 ha crops of opium.
