DUSHANBE, March 3, Asia-Plus  — Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev heading a Tajik military delegation was on a six-day working visit to Ukraine from February 25 to March, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The source at a MoD said that Khairulloyev on February 29 met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Yuri Yekhanurov, to discuss cooperation issues.  During the meeting, it was noted that Tajikistan and Ukraine would expand military-technical cooperation in future as well.

The two, in particular, considered issues related to training of personnel for Tajik National Army in Ukraine.

During his stay in Ukraine, Tajik defense minister also held talks with Sergey Bondarchuk, the director general of the Ukrainian state company dealing with export/import of defense and special products and services.

The MoD source noted that Tajikistan and Ukraine have had military-technical cooperation since 1995, and a number of bilateral cooperation documents have been signed between MoDs of the two countries since that time.
