DUSHANBE, March 12, Asia-Plus — Tajik MPs have endorsed a medical insurance bill.  The First Deputy Health Minister, Ms. Saida Jobirova, noted that the medical insurance law is aimed at improving access of the population to medical services.  According her, the law provides for both compulsory and voluntary medical insurance.

A regular sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the third convocation, presided over by its chairman, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on March 12.   

            Speaking at the session, Jumaboy Sanginov, the head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee   for Family, Health Care, Ecology and Social Affairs, noted that the new law also guarantees partially free medical service.  He added that the law will come into effect starting from 2010.
