DUSHANBE, March 15, Asia-Plus  — USD/TJS (Tajik national currency somoni) exchange rate in currency exchange offices is currently lower than the exchange rate set by the National bank of Tajikistan (NBT).  

Data issued by Tajik central bank showed that on March 13, the USD/TJS exchange rate in currency exchange office was 1:3.425, while an official exchange rate set by the NBT was 1:3.4495.  

Experts note that the fact that the exchange rate of the US dollar against the somoni in the currency exchange offices is lower than the official one is a rare occurrence for Tajikistan.  

According to the NBT, the lowest USD/TJS exchange rate has been reported in Khorog, Gorno Badakhshan – 1:3.36 on purchase and 1:39 on sale.  

The highest USD/TJS exchange rate has been reported in northern Tajikistan – 1:3.43 and 1:3.44 respectively.  

In the Khatlon province, the USD/TJS exchange rate has been 1:3.4 on purchase and 1:3.44 on sale.
