DUSHANBE, March 31, Asia-Plus  — At the end of last week, members of the board of the Democratic Party (DPT) visited Qurghon Teppa, the capital of the Khatlon province to brisk up the work in the province, Rahmatullo Valiyev, the deputy head of the DPT, told Asia-Plus Monday afternoon.

The DPT delegation members included Rahmatullo Valiyev, Jumaboy Niyozov, the first deputy head, and Temour Toshev, the head of party’s office.

According to Mr. Valiyev, they instructed senior representatives from the DPT district and city organizations in Khatlon to hold conferences.  “The aim of this event is to recruit new members from among students and local intelligentsia,” the DPT deputy leader said.

He further added that the DPT regional conference will be held in Khatlon late April, and “after that, the DPT regional organization in Khatlon should work more actively.”

“In Sughd and Gorno Badakhshan, our regional organizations are working well,” said Valiyev.  “We currently have problems only in Khatlon, and one of reasons for this is the fact that we do not have office in Qurghon Teppa.  We hope that this issue will be resolved soon.”
