DUSHANBE, May 29, Asia-Plus – The Central Asian table tennis tournament for individuals with intellectual disabilities concluded in Dushanbe on May 28, Asia-Plus has learned at the Drug Control Agency (DCA) head office in Dushanbe.
The tournament, organized by DCA in cooperation with Special Olympics Tajikistan, was aimed at drawing attention of the public to individuals with intellectual disabilities and propagating health lifestyle, the DCA source said.
Sportsmen from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan took part in the mentioned tournament, and all its participants were awarded with prizes and presents provided by the organizers.
Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization* dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. Special Olympics currently serves 2.5 million people with intellectual disabilities in more than 200 Programs in over 180 countries.
