DUSHANBE, June 11, Asia-Plus  — Since the beginning of this year, open joint-stock company (OJSC) Agroinvestbonk, on Tajikistan’s largest financial institutions, has spent 590.728 million somonis (TJS), which is equivalent to $172.2 million, for charitable uses, according to Agroinvestbonk’s headquarters in Dushanbe.  

These funds have gone to supporting enhancement of educational sector and development of sports in the country, sponsoring children’s team of Special Olympics Tajikistan (branch of international organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition) and providing assistance to orphanages.  

Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 57 other branches across the republic. Agroinvestbonk’s declared capital includes 270,000 shares, valued at 27 million somonis. The face value of one share is 100 somonis.  As of May 1, Agroinvestbonk’s capital has amounted to TJS115,357,775 (equivalent to $33.6 million).
