DUSHANBE, June 16, Asia-Plus — An operation carried out by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) in Dushanbe has led to the arrest of resident of Khatlon’s Nosir Khusrav district on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
According to DCA’s press service, a wrap of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing some 100 grams was confiscated from him. The detainee, whose name is not disclosed in the interest of investigation, said that he had arrived in Dushanbe to push the narcotic drug.
During the preliminary investigation, it turned out that the detainee has previous conviction on drug-trafficking charge. The detainee, ethnic Uzbek, had been convicted by Uzbek court and served his sentence in a penal colony in Uzbekistan.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him and an investigation is under way.
