DUSHANBE, June 17, Asia-Plus – An international three-day seminar formally titled “Prevention of Spread of HIV/AIDS among Youth, including High-Risk Groups” opened in Dushanbe today, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The seminar, staged by a MoH in cooperation with World Health Organization’s (WHO) Dushanbe Office, has brought together representatives of health ministries of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine as well as specialists from the WHO regional bureau to discuss issues related to strengthening of health care systems for preventing HIV/AIDS among youth, access of those most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS to friendly health services, as well as achievements reached in the field of combating HIV/AIDS, the MoH source said.
Deputy Health Minister, Azam Mirzoyev, the local WHO representative in Tajikistan, Santino Severoni, and acting head of the UNICEF CO in Tajikistan, Ruth Leano, are expected to address to the seminar.
The seminar participants are also scheduled to visit medical facilities in Tursunzoda, Yovon and Vahdat.
