DUSHANBE, June 17, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Interior Ministry directorate for combating drug trafficking (drug police) has warded off an attempt of smuggling a large amount of drugs by the flight Dushanbe-Khujand, according to press service of the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

   The 47-year-old resident of the Varzob district Boborajab Davlatov was detained at the Dushanbe airport on June 16 on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.  More than 15 kilograms of hashish were found in his bag.  According to him, he was going to send the bag by plane to Khujand.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Davlatov and an investigation is under way.
