DUSHANBE, June 17, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s power-wielding structures will conduct a joint drill in southern Tajikistan.
A four-day exercise that will start on June 18 will involve servicemen of the Ministry of Defense (MoD), Drug Control Agency (DCA), Main Border Directorate within the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) and the National Guard.
According to the DCA, the purpose of the exercise that will be conducted on the Shuroobod stretch of the Tajik-Afghan border is to rehearse joint actions in preventing illegal border crossing and combating drug traffickers and possible subversives.
An emphasis will be made on strengthening of control of the Shuroobod stretch, which is considered to be the most vulnerable part of the Tajik-Afghan border, the DCA source said.
The exercise runs through June 22.
