DUSHANBE, June 17, Asia-Plus — The Director of the Drug Control Agency, Lieutenant-General Rustam Nazarov, met with the Norwegian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Mette Kongshem, on June 17.
According to DCA’s press service, Norwegian diplomat inquired about the present drug-trafficking situation in Tajikistan and Afghanistan as well as a progress of implementation of anti-drug projects within the framework of the OSCE.
In the course of the talks, Tajik drug control kingpin highly appraised support of the OSCE for implementation of separate anti-drug projects as well as Norwegian government’s support for fight against drug trafficking.
The DCA director briefed Norwegian envoy on the present drug situation in Tajikistan and the region as whole as well as activities of the counter narcotics agency and other Tajik law-enforcement agencies on combating the illicit drug trafficking.
The two also discussed a number of proposals on further cooperation within the framework of the OSCE and separate directions of cooperation with Norway’s government, the press service said.
