DUSHANBE, June 17, Asia-Plus  — State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Norway were discussed at a meeting of Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Tajikistan, Mr. Mette Kongshem, in Dushanbe on June 16, according to the Tajik MFA.  

In the course of the talks, the two also discussed the current situation in Afghanistan as well as international and regional issues being of mutual interest. 

The possibility of participation of Norwegian companies in construction of small power plants in Tajikistan was one of major topics of the meeting.  

We will recall that Ambassador Kongshem heading a Norwegian delegation arrived in Tajikistan on June 12.  

The Norwegian diplomat is also scheduled to hold meetings Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Chairman Saydullo Khairulloyev, State Committee for National Security Chairman Khairiddin Abdurahimov, Drug Control Agency Director Rustam Nazarov, Transport and Communications Minister Abdurahim Ashour and Energy and Industries Minister Gul Sherali.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI), a meeting of Mr. Mette Kongshem with Minister Gul Sherali will be held on June 18.    

The Norwegian delegation will stay in the country till June 18.
