QURGHON TEPPA, June 27, Asia-Plus  — Qurghon Teppa, which hosts the main celebrations to mark the National Unity, is receiving guests today.  Guests from all regions of the country as well as from broad began arriving in Qurghon Teppa already yesterday. 

`Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, MS. Asalmo Safarova, the chairperson of the Khatlon information analysis department, said that many new facilities are being inaugurated in the Khatlon province on the occasion of the holiday today.   

In Qurghon Teppa, President Emomali Rahmon and guests will attend inauguration of the Memorial “Vahdat” (Unity), Technological Lyceum, Medical Center “Khatlon”, residential building for teachers, elderly center and a number of other facilities.

The groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a new building of the Khatlon regional museum and introduction of the television station TV Khatlon into operation on the separate channel will also be held today.

A theatrical show dedicated to the National Unity Day will be held at the Stadium “Pakhtakor” in Qurghon Teppa today evening.    

We will recall that the General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord in Tajikistan, ending a civil war that killed as many as 100,000 people and ravaged Tajikistan”s infrastructure, was signed by the government and the former United Tajik Opposition (UTO) in Moscow on June 27, 1997.  The Tajik National Peace Accord that brought peace and stability to Tajikistan marked a major step in the evolution of post-Soviet Central Asia.
