DUSHANBE, September 5, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A 21-year-old resident of Kulob, Sobir Khalifayev, was detained in Dushanbe yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for a MoI, told Asia-plus today that some 2 kilograms of marijuana were confiscated from Khalifayev.  Khalifayev brought the narcotics to Dushanbe for pushing.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Khalifayev and an investigation is under way.
