President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on Wednesday met with Minister of Industry, Energy and Fuel Resources Saparbek Balkibekov to discuss possibility and terms of natural gas supplies.

Having huge oil and gas resources and intensively developing infrastructure of the national fuel and energy sector, Turkmenistan is implementing its energy policy built upon diversification principles, President Berdymukhamedov said. “We are ready to supply hydrocarbon resources to all interested parties, including our neighbors in the region with whom we have established long and reliable ties,” President Berdymukhamedov added.

The two sides have discussed opportunities and terms of natural gas supply to Kyrgyzstan. Turkmenistan insists on sales of gas on its border.

Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan do not border with each other. Gas can be supplied to Kyrgyzstan from Turkmenistan only through the territory of Uzbekistan.
