QURGHON TEPPA, September 22, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Students from the Khatlon higher educational institutions and colleges will be sent to work cotton harvest, Khatlon governor Ghaybullo Afzal announced at a session of the Khatlon regional legislature (Majlis) on September 20.  

According to him, the president permitted to send students to pick cotton and charged heads of districts and cities to control signing of appropriate contracts between farming units and educational facilities.  

The governor noted that 2,000 students will be sent to pick cotton in the Nosir Khusrav district, 1,000 students will be sent to Yovon, and the Vakhsh, Danghara, Qumsangir and Panj districts will receive 500 students each.  

Afzal noted that students should be sent to the districts strictly in accordance with applications, while other students will continue studies.
