DUSHANBE, October 15, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Moratorium on inspection of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) announced in the country by president’s decree of July 25 2008 has not led to staff reduction in Tajikistan’s agency for standardization, metrology, certification and trade inspection, Tojikstandart, as it had been predicted, the Tojikstandart head Davlatali Hotamov remarked at a press conference in Dushanbe on October 15.

“Unfounded inspections of small and medium-sized enterprises had become frequent in the country, and I believe the moratorium will allow eradicating these shortcomings,” Hotamov said, noting that they agency inspects small and medium-sized enterprises only by invitation of their representatives, who are interested in appreciation of goods.

In the meantime, according to reliable sources, a part of Tojikstandart’s employees were furloughed on August 1 and have not yet returned to work.
