DUSHANBE, October 16, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Heads of relevant municipal services and heads of Dushanbe’s districts have reported to the Dushanbe legislature on the present sanitary situation in the city and the provision of residents with safe drinking water.

The 15th session of the Dushanbe legislature (Majlis) of the third convocation, presided over by Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, was held on October 16. 

Speaking at the meeting, Ubaidulloyev expressed dissatisfaction with work of the municipal services dealing with sanitary situation and water supply issues and gave them two months to remove existing shortcomings.  

Head of the Dushanbe agency for environmental protection Bahrom Mahmadaliyev, the Dushanbe head sanitary physician Ziyvuddin Afghonov and the Dushanbe municipal waterworks head Azam Tabarov were reprimanded and warned that more strict measures would be taken against them if they fail to implement their duties in future.
