DUSHANBE, October 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon yesterday congratulated Ilham Aliyev over his reelection as President of Azerbaijan, according to presidential press service.  

In his message of congratulations, Rahmon, in particular noted, “Your victory in elections is an evidence of a wide support for policy conducted under your leadership.” 

Tajik president expressed confidence that multi-aspect cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan will expand in the future as well.  

The same day, Rahmon had telephone conversation wit Ilham Aliyev.  In the telephone call, Rahmon once again conveyed congratulations to Ilham Aliyev on his reelection as president, presidential press service said.  They exchanged views on issues related to further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.  A special attention was paid to implementation of cooperation agreements signed in Dushanbe and Baku last year.
