KHUJAND, October 28, 2008, Asia-Plus  — According to the Sughd branch of the Interior Ministry migration service, 170,763 residents of the Sughd province have left the country since the beginning of this year in search of seasonal work.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shuhrat Ahmadov, the chief of the Sughd branch of the migration service within the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said that they had traveled primarily to the Russian Federation.

According to him, 9,254 residents have been officially placed in jobs with economic entities outside the country over the first nine month of this year, which is some 4,000 people more than in the same period of last year.  

“Seven agencies currently deal with external labor migration in the province, providing labor migrants with jobs and normal living and working conditions,” Ahmadov said.
