DUSHAHNBE, October 28, 2008, Asia-Plus  — International conference formally titled “Central Asia and Afghanistan: Challenges, Opportunities and Prospects” will be held in Dushanbe in early November.

According to the Center for Strategic Studies at the President of Tajikistan, the conference is organized under support of the London International Institute for Strategic Studies.   

The conference is expected to bring together 25 international experts from Central Asia’s states, Russia, Afghanistan, India, China, and the NATO member nations as well as representatives of the OSCE, UN, the European Union and diplomatic mission accredited in Tajikistan to discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan, their impact on the Central Asian region and support of the countries of the region for ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) and reconstruction of Afghanistan’s economy, the source said.
