KHUJAND, November 13, 2008, Asia-Plus  — 56 HIV sufferers have died in the Sughd province since 1991, when the first HIV infection case was registered here, Said Bobojonov, the head of epidemiology department within the Sughd AIDS Center, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.  

According to Bobojonov, 314 HIV sufferers, including three children under the age of 6, have been officially registered in the province to this date. 

“27 HIV sufferers, including eight pregnant women, now undergo antiretroviral therapy,” said he, “Since 2005, 62 people have undergone the antiretroviral therapy; three of them refused treatment, six other left the country and 17 HIV sufferers died of different diseases .”
