KHUJAND, November 13, 2008, Asia-Plus  — the winter crops sowing campaign is progressing in the Sughd province.  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Davron Boboyev, an official with the Sughd agriculture directorate, said that local farmers had planted winter crops on an area of 44,208 hectares so far.

This year, they plan to plant winter crops on 60,000 hectares, which is 20,000 hectares more than last year.      

In 2007, Sughd farmers yielded 67,939 tons of winter grains from 40,000 hectares, Boboyev said.
