DUSHANBE, November 18, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Drug peddler who was traveling to St. Petersburg on Russian airline flight with drugs in his stomach was detained at the Dushanbe airport yesterday night, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA).  

The source at a DCA said that Dushanbe resident S.M. had ingested nine wraps of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 236 grams.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the drug peddler and an investigation is under way.  

The DCA source added that four attempts of transportation of drugs to Russia by plane have been warded off this year – three attempts at were warded off at the Dushanbe airport and one attempt at the Khujand airport.  In all, the drug peddler tried to  travel to Russia with totaling 1,686 kilograms in their stomachs.
