DUSHANBE, December 26, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The World Bank has provided more than 40 vehicles, including 20 UAZ, 21 Niva and Niva-Chevrolet, for medical facilities in the Khatlon province, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The vehicles have been provided within the framework of the Community and Basic Health Project for Tajikistan.  An official ceremony of handover of vehicles is being held during an opening of the Training Center for Family Medicine in the village of Qizil-Qala in Khatlon’s Khuroson district today.

This center was also rehabilitated and equipped as part of the Community and Basic Health Project, the source at a MoH said.

The Community and Basic Health Project for Tajikistan aims to increase access to, utilization of, and patient satisfaction with health services in project-supported areas, and to build capacity and efficiency at national, oblast and rayon levels in administering a basic package of health benefits and introducing financing reforms in primary health care.
