DUSHANBE, January 16, 2009, Asia-Plus  — In 2008 all types of Tajikistan’s transportation shipped 47.3819 million tons of cargo, which is 7.7 percent more than in 2007, according to the State Committee for Statistics.

The volume of cargo shipped by automotive transportation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, private carriers and transportation of private entrepreneurs was 24.5556 million tons.

During the report period, 14.554 million tons of cargo were shipped by rail transportation and 2,481 tons of cargo were shipped by air transportation.
