Inflation in the Republic of Kazakhstan in January, 2009, totaled 0.3 %, the agency reports citing Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan.

According to the Statistics Agency, in comparison with December, 2008, the inflation has been at the level of 0.3 %, in comparison with January, 2008 – 8.7 %.

According to Statistics Agency, last month the prices for dairy products grew by 1.2 %, fruit and vegetables – by 1.9 %, alcoholic drinks – by 3 %, and tobacco products – by 4.2 %. The prices for sunflower oil fell down by 12.7 %, flour – by 1.7 %, rice – by 0.5 %, bread – by 0.4 %, groats – by 0.2 %, and eggs – by 0.1 %.

The prices for detergents have grown by 1.9 %, the goods of personal hygiene – by 1.1 %, and medicines – by 0.9 %. Gasoline became cheaper by 9.6 %, diesel fuel – by 9.1 %, and liquefied gas – by 3.5 %.

The prices for the post services have increased by 46.9 % and telephone services have increased by 14 %. Restaurants and hotel services have gone up by 2.1 %, public health services – by 1.5 %, personal service – by 1.2 %, and transport – by 0.8 %.
