DUSHANBE, February 18, 2009, Asia-Plus  – On January 2009, Tajikistan produced a total of 424.4 million somoni (equivalent to 114.7 million US dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the State Committee for Statistics.

Compared to January 2008 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 95 percent.

Industrial products worth 258.6 million somoni were delivered last month, or some 61 percent of the volume of products produced.

Enterprises of the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) produced 94 million somoni worth of products over the report period, which is 5.4 percent more than in January 2008, and enterprises of the cotton-processing sector produced 50.4 million worth of output in January 2009 (17 percent more than in the same period of last year).

In the meantime, enterprises that are not subordinate to a MoEI produced 175.7 million somoni worth of goods in January 2009, which is 13.6 percent fewer than in the same period of last year.

We ill recall that compared to 2007, the index of the volume of production of industrial goods in the country last year amounted to 96 percent.
