DUSHANBE, February 19, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Rear Admiral Mark D. Harnitchek, heading a delegation of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), arrived in Dushanbe yesterday evening for a working visit.

According the US Embassy in Dushanbe, the purpose of the visit for the delegation is to study transportation infrastructure and conduct consultations with relevant ministries and departments of Tajikistan on transit of commercial goods to Afghanistan through Tajikistan.

The source at the US Embassy said that tomorrow, Rear Admiral Harnitchek, who is Director, Strategy, Policy, Programs and Logistics, USTRANSCOM, would hold talks with representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs and transport and communications as well as the state committee for national security (GKNB).
