DUSHANBE, February 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday February 19, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev received visiting Iran’s television and radio network head Ezatollah Zarghami.

Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker, told Asia-Plus that the two had discussed a broad range of issues related to expansion of cooperation between TV and radio networks of the two countries and implementation of a number joint projects in that direction.

Ezatollah Zarghami, in particular, noted that they intended to produce a cycle of TV and radio programs about Tajikistan that would promote achievements made by Tajikistan and attraction of Iranian investments in the country’s economy.

For his part, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev noted that Tajikistan needed to study Iran’s experience in order to arrange proper work of free economic zones (FEZs) established in the country and TV and radio networks could play a significant role in that case.

Iran’s state television and radio network head noted that they had decided to broadcast this year’s celebrations to mark the Navrouz holiday in Tajikistan on Iran’s television network, the aid said.
